Printing Coupons from the Internet - Coupons.com

Did you know you can print coupons right from the internet and use them at your favorite stores?  Although not every store accepts printed coupons due to some cases of fraud, many do accept them!  Newspapers are usually the best source for coupons, but I have used many printed coupons and have had huge savings with them!

One of my favorite sources for printed coupons ("internet coupons", "internet printables", "IPs", etc.) is Coupons.com.  They offer a variety of coupons for food, healthcare, personal care, household, toys, entertainment, etc.  There are other websites you can print coupons from, but this will get you started.  More information will be coming soon!

How To Get Started with Printing from Coupons.com:
  • Make sure you have a printer hooked up to your computer and it's turned on.  If you don't have a printer, I highly recommend buying one of the least expensive deskjet printers you can find.  I personally use an HP D1660.  It was only about $30 at Walmart.  It came with both black and color cartridges, which makes the printer itself practically free when you consider the cost of ink cartridges these days.  What I like about this printer is that the black ink cartridges are only about $14!  I don't do much printing other than coupons, so this is the most economical route for me.  Any printer should work though.
    • TIPYou can take your old ink cartridges to Staples and sign up for their recycling program.  You'll receive $2 per cartridge you give them, and they'll send you a rewards check every so often which you can use toward more cartridges or other items from their store!
    • TIP:  To make your ink last longer, you can change your print settings.  Click on the "Start" menu in the bottom left corner of your computer, then go to "Control Panel".  Click "Printers", then "View installed printers".  Right click on your printer and choose "Printing Preferences".  You'll want to select "Fast/Economical Printing" (your printer might have different wording - depends on the brand).  This change alone will help tremendously!  Also, you should know that stores will accept printed coupons in color or black and white.  I always print in black and white so I very rarely have to buy a new color ink cartridge.  To change the printer settings to only print in black and white, you go to the same location as above.  In the bottom right corner, you'll see "Print in grayscale".  Click the dropdown arrow and select "Black Ink Only".  Once you click "OK", your settings will change and your ink will last longer!
  • After you have your printer hooked up, click on Coupons.com and type in your zip code in the top left corner.  This will pull up all the coupons available in your area.  You can sort the coupons by category on the left.  Once you've selected the coupons you want to print, click "Print Coupons" in the bottom right corner.
  • You will be asked to install the "Coupon Printer".  You'll have to install this in order to print the coupons, but there shouldn't be any trouble with it (unless you're on a public computer and don't have permission to download programs).
  • After you install the "Coupon Printer", your coupons should begin printing!  You are allowed to print 2 of each coupon, so after you print the first time, go ahead and go back to Coupons.com and print them again if you'd like.
    • TIP:  When you go back to print your second coupon, you'll usually have to go to the very last page of coupons to locate the ones you've already printed.  Occasionally, you'll find a coupon that can only be printed one time.  If so, it will say "Print Limit Reached".
    • TIP:  It's always a good idea to select and print at least 2 different coupons to print at a time, because there will usually be some advertising that prints with single coupons (a waste of ink).
  • If you do run into any trouble when printing from Coupons.com, you can access their Frequently Asked Questions by clicking "Help" at the bottom of their page.

I hope this post has helped you get started with printing coupons!  More information will be coming soon!  Let me know what kinds of things you'd like to know more about when it comes to saving with coupons.
